Term 4 at MMCC is always busy and it's also a great opportunity for some important outreach events to wind up the year too! Keep reading to find out more about some of the College-supported events coming up this term:
Socktober: Socking it to poverty!
Coming up in just one week's time, our annual Socktober Day is quickly approaching. Next Friday, 18 October, we invite all students and staff to wear their bright, colourful and crazy socks and purchase a sausage sizzle run by the AMMA group. Please note: students are to wear their regular Friday uniform; the socks are simply a bright addition!
We participate in Socktober Day as a part of Mission Month; as a Catholic College, we aim to engage our community, to raise money for Catholic Missions and take action against poverty. This year, Catholic Missions' focus country is Mongolia. Of course, on this day, we also get the chance to wear some colourful socks, buy a sausage sizzle and play some soccer!
Importantly, for ordering and organisational purposes, the order form for the sausage sizzle, as well as for donating money for wearing colourful and crazy socks, closes at 9am on Wednesday, 16 October. Sausages cannot be purchased after this time nor purchased with cash on the day.
To donate for wearing socks and/or order a sausage sizzle, all families are asked to use this link.
Hike for the Homeless
After the excitement of Socktober Day, our students and their families also have the opportunity to join the College's team for Hike for the Homeless. This event, which is on Saturday, 19 October, is aimed at raising awareness of homelessness in Toowoomba and much-needed funds to ensure the Basement Soup Kitchen can continue to provide lunchtime meals, blankets, clothing, and essential services. As a Catholic College in the Josephite tradition, we are passionate about outreach and aim to work in partnership to advocate for people who are homeless or at high risk of homelessness in Toowoomba.
An email with a registration link has been sent to all families. However, the details of the morning, along with the link can also be found below:

Vinnies Christmas Gift Appeal
Lastly, from Week 5 of this term, the AMMA and Year 5 Mini Vinnies will again be running the Vinnies Christmas Gift Appeal. As a College, we participate in this Appeal, to supply gift cards and age-appropriate presents to families in our Toowoomba (and surrounds) community who may not be able to supply their families with gifts at Christmastime.
The Vinnies Christmas Gift Appeal will span Week 5 to Week 9, opening for donations from Monday, 4 November and closing on Wednesday, 27 November.
More information, including a list of appropriate gifts for each age group, will come out soon! Please support our annual Appeal by donating to the baskets which will be placed in each classroom in the Junior school and Pastoral Care classroom in the Senior school.
Thank you in anticipation of your contributions to these worthwhile events. It is important as a Catholic College that we are looking for ways to support those in our local and global communities who are vulnerable or are struggling to make ends meet.
